SATURDAY MORNING WORKSHOPS
The workshop is open each Saturday from 9am to 12noon for bat fittings until September. Thankfully things have calmed since the manic mornings in March, but we still recommend coming as early as possible (we are not able to book appointments, it is an open house).
On the Saturday mornings we select part made bats (fitted clefts) which are worked on at the bench to establish the core shape and specification. The bat then needs to stay with us for sanding and finishing. Although we have a handful of factory seconds which are ready to take away, we recommend our stockists if you need to purchase a finished bat on the day. We are very much a factory rather than a shop, so to try a selection of finished bats then any of our specialist stockists are best placed to help (although call first to check their stock levels). Our bat fittings are a totally different experience and offer the chance to have your own bespoke Salix.
PADS, GLOVES, BAGS, NEW TROUSERS ETC.
Equipment levels are still fine and we finally have Pod 1 Grade One gloves in youth and oversize/large sizes, as well as new stock of the Junior gloves which had completely sold out. Some models and sizes are still sold out, so please call to check on a particular item.
BATS
We are still making as fast as we can and distributing to our stockists constantly, so keep in touch with them for advice on their stock levels.
SPONSORSHIP
We are responding to sponsorship applications in around 10 days, so please bear with us if you are awaiting a response from a recent application.
REPAIRS
Repair turnaround time is now reduced to approximately 2 weeks and as ever, we urge you to look after your bat and to return it promptly if it does suffer damage. Minor repairs are much quicker and more effective than if you leave a bat to deteriorate. For further advice please contact your stockist, phone us or see the bat care section. Our bats are durable, but they are made of wood and especially hate being bashed into the ground...tapping at the wicket is the biggest cause of damage at the toe, so tap your boot not the wicket when taking guard!
FILM
We hope that you have enjoyed our film which can be viewed on the site. We are really grateful to Stuart Campbell, the very talented film maker whose love of the bats led him to spend a couple of days filming us and many, many hours editing a great snapshot of our manufacturing processes. We are indebted to him and hope that this gives you a real taste of what goes into Salix bats.
Lastly on a personal note, we’re happy to see our favourite emigrants back on British soil…a victory for England over Australia.
Best wishes from all at Salix
