To contact us, please find our details at the foot of this section. As the majority of all queries are about how to visit us, when we open, buying bats, repairs etc., we have detailed all the fundamental information below. Hopefully this will be exactly what you are looking for, otherwise, please contact our stockists (link) or us by phone or email. We are a totally hands on manufacturing business (generally with a bat in one hand and a barking dog in the background!), so recommend speaking to our specialist stockists about general bat information, but will always try to help if you have a specific query.

Visiting Salix – opening times
We open our workshops on Saturday mornings only : 9am to 12noon from 5th March to 24th September 2011.
We have a stockroom with equipment, but bats are generally selected as fitted blades (i.e. partmade) and shaped with you. This unique bespoke service has developed from the fact that we never clear our order books, so never have finished stock available. In this way we are still able to serve local customers and visitors who want to get right to the source of Salix, without compromising our stockists' orders. These Saturday mornings can get busy, but are a wonderful opportunity to see what goes into the bats and to have the very best bat made for you, whilst also keeping us in contact with players using the bats. After selection bespoke bats normally take 10 days to be completely finished. If you are planning to visit then please read these essential notes which hopefully help explain how it all works »» Visiting Salix (pdf)PDF

Bat copies
We can and do frequently copy bats, either old Salix favourites or other brands entirely. When we copy we try to capture the features and appeal of the original, whilst translating it into a current Salix.

Factory bats
We normally have factory seconds available for Saturday morning visitors, but are unable to give lists or details as they change constantly and are priced individually. These will be bats which are downgraded or have minor flaws, so range from excellent bargains to backup or bad weather bats. If you are coming specifically for factory seconds, then please phone first to check that we have good stock.

Equipment
Salix protective equipment is available in our showroom for selection and advice. We try to hold stock across the lines, but inevitably find that certain models and sizes sell out during the season. If you are travelling to see us then we always recommend a quick call to check on stock to ensure we have what you need.

Mail order
To complement our bat fittings and for players unable to travel to the workshop, we can make bespoke bat orders and supply equipment by mail order.

Vouchers & partmade bats
As gifts, we can provide personalised vouchers to your nominated value, bat fitting invitation letters or partmade bats. The latter is especially unique as it enables you to give a novel present which then becomes the custom bat making experience. To order a partmade bat which comes boxed with a letter explaining what it is and about the subsequent bat fitting, you can either order and pay for the bat in advance, or pay a deposit to cover the cost of the partmade bat only. The recipient then brings the bat back in to us during one of our Saturday fittings to be shaped with us and finished to their specification. The partmade blade may be changed for another at the time to make sure the most suitable blade is selected, so we ask that it is stored in a cool dry place before being brought back in to us.

Project bats
Over the years we have frequently been asked by students or hobby batmakers for materials to make a bat at home or school. Experience has taught us that the best way to do this is to buy a partmade blade which has already been machined, pressed and fitted (see manufacturing) using our specialist machinery as these early stages are very hard to replicate outside of the workshop. This blade can then be shaped, sanded, rasped, bound, sanded, polished, labelled and gripped. We can supply bats in grades 1, 2 or 3, plus sub-standards which are ideal as a cheaper way to experiment.
